Product Description
Co Nofos (Profenofos 50% EC) is a contact and stomach-acting insecticide formulated as an Emulsifiable Concentrate (EC), belonging to the Organophosphate chemical group. It controls bollworms, leaf folders, diamondback moth, pod borers and other chewing pests on cotton, paddy, cabbage, cauliflower, pulses, chili and citrus.
Mode of Action
- Co Nofos is a Group 1B (Organophosphate) insecticide that works by contact and ingestion.
- It inhibits acetylcholinesterase, an enzyme essential to nerve signal transmission in the pest, causing paralysis and death.
- It has quick knock-down action against actively feeding larvae and adult insects.
- As a Group 1B mode of action, it should be rotated with insecticides from other groups to help manage resistance.
Directions for Use
- Apply as a uniform foliar spray when pests first appear, following the crop-wise rate below.
- Calculated on the basis of a knapsack sprayer at the water volume per acre shown below.
- Re-entry period after spraying: 24 hours.
- Apply 1–2 times per crop season, at 7–15 day intervals depending on pest pressure.

Precautions
- Wear gloves, a face mask, goggles, a long-sleeved shirt, long trousers and a hat during mixing and spraying.
- Avoid direct contact of the spray with eyes and skin, and avoid inhaling spray mist.
- Do not eat, chew betel, smoke or drink while handling or spraying the product.
- Wash hands thoroughly with soap after handling; wash contaminated clothing thoroughly after use.
- Do not spray against the wind.
- Highly toxic to aquatic life and bees — do not contaminate ponds, rivers or water sources; do not spray near fish or bee-keeping areas or on flowering crops during pollinator activity.
First Aid
- Remove contaminated clothing immediately.
- Wash affected skin thoroughly with soap and water.
- If in eyes, rinse gently with plenty of water for several minutes.
- If inhaled, move the person to fresh air and keep them calm.
- If swallowed, do not induce vomiting; seek medical advice immediately and show the container/label to the doctor.
- Seek medical advice and treatment in all cases — organophosphate poisoning requires prompt medical attention.
Antidote
No home antidote. Organophosphate poisoning requires prompt medical treatment (e.g. atropine, under a doctor's supervision).
Storage & Disposal
- Store in the original tightly closed container in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place, away from direct sunlight.
- Keep away from children, animals, food, animal feed, seed and fertilizer.
- Do not reuse empty containers for any purpose.
- Do not wash spray equipment or empty containers in rivers, streams or ponds; bury empty containers deep in the ground, away from water sources.
- Do not burn or dump.
